Workers are hauling in new soil to the Estech General Chemical Co. site, which is near the end of North Navassa Road, said Town Administrator Claudia Bray.
Bray said she anticipated the work to be completed soon. It was due to be finished several months ago but has been held up by weather, she said.
The soil had been contaminated with metal and arsenic from the plant, which closed in the 1980s.
The other Environmental Protection Agency-designated site in Navassa is the Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp. site, which is still being studied.
