Q. Is foot /bike traffic allowed within the gates of private communities in Wilmington if I am not a resident of that community? What happens if you walk up to the gate and say you want to walk around inside?
A. Dylan Lee, spokesman for the City of Wilmington, said access to private communities is “totally the prerogative of the community and the rules they have established.”
“They are privately owned streets and sidewalks and the management/HOA entity gets to decide,” Lee said.
None of the homeowners associations MyReporter contacted answered our queries.
