Q. Can you determine why the electronic sign on Highway 74/76 towards Wilmington no longer indicates when the Cape Fear Bridge is open?
A. Department of Transportation officials previously said the malfunction was due to a “software issue” that would be resolved.
Jessi Leonard, DOT Division 3 traffic engineer, said on April 25 that the issue had been brought to the attention of the DOT several months ago.
“Our unit had to work with several units in Raleigh, as well as the digital sign company. Two weeks ago, a fix was made for these messages to be able to be displayed again. This issue should be resolved at this time,” Leonard said.
