Why is DermOne pulling out of Mayfaire?

Amanda Lisk

At this point, no one knows why DermOne is pulling out. Even the offices who bear their name were not told the reason behind DermOne’s sudden and surprising announcement.

Wilmington’s two DermOne locations, on Medical Center Drive and at Mayfaire, as well as all DermOne offices across North Carolina and four other states will all lose the DermOne banner effective Friday March 9.

DermOne sent an email to customers that said, “We have appreciated the opportunity to serve you.”

The move in no way affects the service at Wilmington’s two locations. Those offices will simply change names and continue on as usual.

The Goudarzis say vein care is in full operation at their Mayfaire III office. Kamran Goudarzi Scarless Vein Care, Wilmington Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery and longtime Wilmington dermatologist, Dr. Jonathan Crane merged under DermOne at the Mayfaire III office building (6752 Rock Spring Road Suite 200) in 2014.

Dr. Crane was already affiliated with DermOne at his Medical Center Drive office, formerly known as Atlantic Dermatology. DermOne acquired Atlantic in 2012.

As of March 9, Crane’s Medical Center Drive office will be called Crane Dermatology Associates, P.A. According to an email sent to DermOne customers March 2, Dr. Crane will be taking on all area DermOne patients and all DermOne medical records will transferred to the Medical Center Drive office beginning March 9.

DermOne has been touted as one of the nation’s fastest growing networks of dermatology, acquiring nearly 40 offices in North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia and Pennsylvania in just a few short years.

DermOne associates fielding calls say they’ve dwindled down to a skeleton crew and cannot comment beyond saying all offices will cease operating under the DermOne banner Friday March 9.

After March 9, contact Crane Dermatology Associates at 910-251-9944. It’s located at 1099 Medical Center Drive.
