What are they building off Castle Hayne Road behind the Food Lion in the Murrayville area?

The 95-acre property behind the Food Lion on Castle Hayne Road is owned by Clearly Development Inc., which has long planned a large neighborhood there.

The project, known as Riverside, was originally to be developed by a different company, which got approval for the project in 2007. Clearly bought the property in 2014, and in 2015 got approval from New Hanover County’s technical review committee to build 238 houses on the property, but it appears that little to no construction has taken place on the site since then.

New Hanover County property records list the land as the “Riverside Development Tract” and estimate its value at $1.8 million as of 2017.
