Are helmets required at local skate parks? If so, why is the requirement not enforced?

Tim Hower

Helmets are required at the three New Hanover County skate parks — Greenfield Grind, Ogden Park and Carolina Beach.

Greenfield Grind is the only one of the three that is supervised, but the other two parks have rules clearly displayed for riders to see.

According to Tim Murphy, the Carolina Beach Parks and Programs Superintendent, if anyone spots a rider not wearing a helmet at the Carolina Beach skate park, they should call the recreation center or the police department.
