How do I register a utility trailer in North Carolina?

Registering a utility trailer in North Carolina follows the same process as registering a car, according to the North Carolina state DMV. Here’s a link to to what you’ll need.

DMV.org, a website not affiliated with the government that says it aims to simplify DMV requirements for people to understand more easily, puts it this way:

You’ll need to complete some forms and visit your NC DMV office along with a notarized title and proof of insurance for the vehicle that will be pulling the trailer. The exact cost will vary based on your county’s tax rate.

If you’re coming from a state that doesn’t register trailers, the DMV says you should contact the agency directly:

Registration renewal is also much the same as for a car.
