Why did they demolish the EMS station on Military Cutoff Road at the intersection with Gordon Road?

Ashley Morris

According to the N.C. Department of Transportation, the Ogden-New Hanover Volunteer EMS station was demolished last year as it was located within the claim for the Military Cutoff Extension project — the road project that will extend Military Cutoff Road from Market Street to I-140.

Additionally, the building reportedly had severe mold issues and was uninhabitable, so it could not be revived for another use. There was mold all throughout the interior as the building leaked and was becoming dilapidated, according to Brian Rick with the DOT.
