The house was scheduled to be moved off the Publix/Ogden Marketplace construction site and to the corner of Market Street and Middle Sound Loop Road on Sept. 26. It will remain there until it can be transported to its permanent location by the owner. The hold up had to do with securing the permanent location, which has been done and it will be transported very soon, says Gary Wert with Halpern Development Co. , the owner and builder of the Ogden Marketplace Publix. Halpern is based out of Atlanta.
Site work for the Ogden Publix site is underway and construction has begun. The45,600-square-foot grocery store and 30,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space plus parking at the busy Market and Middle Sound Loop Road intersection is expected to be complete by Oct. 2017, says Wert.
Publix is based outside Orlando, Fla., and has more than 1,000 stores in six Southeastern states. The Pine Valley Publix opened Aug. 10. Ogden’s site plus two more locations in Brunswick County are part of an aggressive move into Southeastern North Carolina by Publix.
