A. The Oak Island Planning Board has seven members, according to the town’s website.
According to Jake Vares, the town’s planning coordinator, they are Bob Germaine, who is retired; Helen Cashwell, who is retired but used to work in information technology; Bob Carpenter, who is retired but used to work in human resources; Ted Manos, a retired lawyer; Denise Pacula, a developer; Clay Jenkins, a forester; and Kathy Robinson, who is retired.
Thus, according to the town, one of the planning board’s seven members, or 14.3 percent of the board, is involved in real estate.
