When will the bridge over Alligator Creek on the Leland causeway be open for traffic?

It’s unclear.

The DOT has met with the contractor to discuss the possibility of opening up the section ahead of the Nov. 15 project completion date, confirmed Brian Rick, a DOT spokesman.

“Before we can open up the additional lane and the bridge to traffic, we need to complete several items of work; the final lift of pavement, install several overhead and ground mounted signs, interim pavement markings, and a few more. This all needs to be done before we place traffic in this area,” Rick said in an email.

Rick said the contractor is putting a plan together to work toward an earlier opening of the section between the Brunswick River and the U.S. 421 exit ramp.
