The N.C Department of Transportation’s Deputy Division 3 traffic engineer, Stoney Mathis, “makes the decisions regarding messages that are placed on the dynamic message signs,” said Robert Vause, NCDOT maintenance engineer for Division 3.

Mathis works in conjunction with his staff and the NCDOT Statewide Operations Center “for applicable messages depending on the need,” Vause said.

The contact number for Mathis is 910-341-0300.
