The Wilmington Sharks are one of six original franchises of the Coastal Plain League, a wood-bat summer college baseball league.
Players, most underclassmen, are chosen from college programs across the nation, with an emphasis on acquiring local players whenever possible.
Local players can consist of being a former high school standout or current member of the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks of the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Sharks play at Buck Hardee Field at the Legion Stadium complex. The season begins around Memorial Day and concludes in early August.
