Q. What is with Northgate Drive in Leland? The road is partially blocked but for no reason. It looks to be a divided road but it is closed.
A. The town of Leland is designing a new road configuration that will move Northgate’s connection with Village Road west to align with Baldwin Drive, said Gary Vidmar, the town’s economic & community development director. The new intersection would receive a traffic signal.
If the N.C. Department of Transportation agrees with the plans, the town will build the road within the next budget cycle, Vidmar said. Though Northgate Drive was built as a private road, it would become a public road after the town made planned changes.
