Where can I find historical photographs/information on local medical facilities and patient treatments prior to 1960?

Paul Stephen

Generally speaking, libraries are going to be the best source for this kind of historic information. The New Hanover County Public Library’s North Carolina Room has a specific book, “The Lonely Road: A History of the Physicks and Physicians of the Lower Cape Fear 1735-1976” that may be a helpful place to start. Several regional libraries and other organizations also have online photo archives that can prove helpful.

Lastly, the New Hanover-Pender County Medical Society is a wealth of information as well. Call them at 910-790-5800.
