Cast Iron Kitchen was scheduled to open in April by the Walmart near Porters Neck Road. What’s the latest?

Q. A few months back you announced that a new family style restaurant was to open in the new Walmart-anchored shopping center on Market Street close to Porters Neck Road. The owner, it was said, was or is the head cook of Sweet N Savory restaurant. Is that still going to happen?

Cast Iron Kitchen chef and owner Josh Petty, formerly of Sweet N Savory, had initially hoped to open his restaurant at 8024 Market St. in April but ran into a few roadblocks along the way. Those hurdles now cleared, he’s holding an open house for the new spot from 6-9 p.m. tonight (May 25) with complimentary appetizers and drinks available for purchase at the bar. For the latest updates, follow the restaurant on Facebook.
