Who is responsible for maintaining residential storm water swales in Leland?

Q. Who is responsible for maintaining/re-dredging residential storm water swales in Leland?

A. The responsibility for the maintenance of any swale lies with the property owner, said David Hollis, Leland’s town manager.

If, for instance, a swale is in a residential neighborhood, it would be up to the homeowners’ association or the property owner.

The town does take care of anything within the right of way and on property owned by the town, Hollis said.
