How can I see a 911 call made in my neighborhood?

F.T. Norton

To locate and obtain a copy of a 911 call, you’ll have to submit a request to the dispatch center, according to Matt Langley New Hanover County 911 telecommunications trainer.

The request must come via a subpoena from a court case or by written request. A form is provided online by the 911 center.

The dispatch center maintains audio files for six months.

911 recorded calls can be heard simply by filing a FOIA request, rather than requiring a supoena.

The focus of MyReporter.com is answering questions about life in Southeastern North Carolina, which we define as Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties. Unfortunately, Norwalk is not included in that region. The process for requesting 911 information in your area may be similar; if you contact local law enforcement, they should be able to provide you with whatever is considered public record in your area.
