Q. What are they doing to Wrightsville Avenue around the Bradley Creek Bridge area? They have cones from Rogersville to Greymarsh neighborhood. They really need a traffic light and turning lane at Hooker Road because the vision of traffic from Rogersville to Hooker is obscured by the bridge.

A. Bicycle lanes are being constructed on Wrightsville Avenue, said Katie Hite, Division 3 state Department of Transportation traffic engineer.

The scope of the state Department of Transportation project includes the installation of bicycle lanes on Wrightsville Avenue from Greeneville Avenue to the beginning of the curb gutter just before Oleander Drive, said Scott E. Cooke, DOT Division III resident engineer.

Wrightsville Avenue will also be resurfaced from Surry Downs to Oleander Drive.

“There is not a plan for a signal at this intersection at this time,” said Katie Hite, DOT Division 3 traffic engineer, in reference to the Hooker Road and Wrightsville Avenue intersection.
