Is Wave Transit a public agency? Are the salaries of Wave Transit a matter of public record?

It sure is.

Wave Transit is overseen by the Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority, which was created in 2004 through a joint resolution by the city of Wilmington and New Hanover County.

Its board members are appointed by the New Hanover Board of County Commissioners and the Wilmington City Council.

Yes, employee salaries are a public record. If you’d like to request a list of salaries, the authority can be contacted at wavetransit@wavetransit.com.

There is much more the public should know about the Transit boondoggle.

For example, what is the total public cost of this entire system: vehicles, buildings, salaries, pensions, health insurance, maintenance and debt service.
