Are there any regularly scheduled walking tours of historic churches downtown?

Ben Steelman

Not at this time, according to Connie Nelson of Wilmington’s convention and visitors’ bureau.

Former StarNews staff member Amanda Greene Irwin offered a Religious Art Walking Tour of downtown churches until 2014. She discontinued the series, however, when her family moved to China after her husband accepted a university appointment there.

Architectural historian Ed Turberg and his wife, Jahet Seapker, former director of the Cape Fear Museum, offer group tours of historic downtown churches, for a fee, upon request. They may be reached at 910-762-6301.
