Shenandoah Street, also known as SR 2117, is a state-maintained road,

with maintenance being provided by the N.C. Department of

The DOT scheduled pavement repair on Shenandoah Street beginning

the week of Nov. 30, depending on weather and product availability, said

Gerald M. Taylor, DOT county maintenance engineer.

“As to the resurfacing of the street, it is under review and is in planning at

this time,” Taylor said.

All paved roads within the county are reviewed every two years as to

pavement condition, he added.

“The timetable for resurfacing is compared to the total county roadway

sections in need,” Smith said.

The sections of roadway included in a project and the type of surface

treatment applied is determined based on a pavement condition survey,

average daily traffic and available funding.

“Consequently, a date as to when the above-mentioned street would be

resurfaced cannot be given,” Taylor said.
