I-40 heading north right before the Gordon Road has a bump that’s really harsh. Are there plans to fix it?

Q. I-40 heading north right before the Gordon Road exit has a hump in it that is incredibly harsh.  The road had been paved, but that part appears to have been patched  but not smoothed down, and it is really rough!

A. The contractor on the job “will be addressing this issue, weather permitting, the week of Nov. 9,” said Scott E. Cooke, N.C. Department of Transportation resident engineer.

UPDATE: Asphalt repairs have been made by the contractor at the I-40 location near Gordon Road, said Scott Cooke, N.C. Department of Transportation Division 3 pavement/resident engineer.

I-40 runs East and West, not North and South. Odd number Interstates are east/west and even number are north/south.

Well, they are REALLY behind, according to their response about the “bump” (more like a hump!) in Gordon Road. What was to be fixed by Nov. 9, is still rattling our teeth. Would you mind checking on their “next” fix time, please?

Thanks so much for your help!!

I-40 does run east/west by name, but by the map the road at that point is headed north/south.

Matters not what compass direction you may be reading… the I-40 corridor runs east/west… if you call 911 and tell them you are on 1-40 North you might have to wait a bit… interstates often do not travel the direction their name implies…. but that is because they are not straight highways…. get with the program SI…..
