Is the city of Wilmington replacing all the old brick garbage cans in downtown Wilmington?

Julian March

Yes, but very slowly, said Dylan Lee, a city spokesman. The city is gradually phasing out the brick trash cans in favor of metal ones seen on the new section of North Third Street.

“While both varieties are durable, vandal-resistant, and mesh well with the streetscape, the metal ones fare better in high winds,” Lee wrote in an email. “It will take some years for all to get replaced.”
