Has Park Avenue ever flooded?

Q. Has Park Avenue in Wilmington ever flooded? Is Park Avenue prone to flooding? What conditions cause it to flood?

A. Park Avenue is not prone to flooding during routine storm events “and we have no records of calls received from the public about flooding along this street dating back to 2013,” city of Wilmington spokesman Dylan Lee said.

Lee said there “may be isolated instances where a drain becomes covered with debris and causes localized flooding, which could occur on any part of the drainage system.”

If flooding is occurring, Lee said the city stormwater maintenance section can be reached at (910) 341-4646.
