Has the Wilmington Tea Room closed?

Q. Has the Wilmington Tea Room closed? I had made a reservation weeks ago for a small Christmas lunch and on the day of the event, I got a voice mail message that they were closed.

A. Former owner Alexis Wall shared the news with followers of the business’ Facebook page on Dec. 30. “In response to the many messages I have recently received on this page’s account, I wanted to let you all know that, sadly, as far as I am aware, the Tea Room has closed for good,” Wall wrote. “As the previous owner, I have always retained access to this Facebook page, although I have not had any direct involvement with the business for many years.”

Efforts to reach the current owners have been unsuccessful. The business’ phone number has been disconnected, and the space was mostly cleared out in December.

A restaurant opened in the Southport area in a spot where another closed. The restrooms there are not wheelchair accessible. Is it not a law that all restaurants must provide restrooms for its customers?
