Q. Why does Thom Goolsby still have an official N.C. Senate license plate on his car when he quit more than six months ago? Is he still charging the state for mileage and expenses?
A. The former senator answers, “My new ‘Retired Senate’ tag has been ordered. I only receive mileage when I attend North Carolina Courts Commission and Governor’s Crime Commission meetings as a commissioner on official duty. However, I have never gone to the trouble to file and do not plan to do so.”
