The project is to address a sinkhole, said Margaret Turlington, the property manager for the Wilmington apartments.
She said a clay pipe 20 or 30 feet under the property broke, triggering a sinkhole, which maintenance staff discovered in the end of May. The hole got larger and filled with water and sand.
Turlington said the hole will be filled, but the project is behind schedule because of all the recent rain. On Aug. 7, she estimated the entire project would be completed in two or three weeks.
“It’s been a huge ordeal,” she said. “We are on top of it.”
