Q. Why can’t we get a traffic cop or a traffic light for all of the parents dropping their kids off at Wrightsboro Elementary School in the mornings? It is a very congested and dangerous intersection.
A. The state Department of Transportation can analyze the Wrightsboro Elementary School area to see if it needs a traffic signal, said Jessi Booker, a traffic engineer with the Department of Transportation. But school areas usually don’t warrant a traffic signal because they don’t have a consistent flow of entering and exiting traffic, she said.
“Unfortunately, the department cannot assist with getting law enforcement assistance for drop off and pick up at schools, and this is up to the individual schools,” Booker said.
