Q. When does Mayfaire plan on starting Phase 3 of the Town Center? I thought it was supposed to be ready in the spring of 2014. Also, is PetSmart moving to Mayfaire Community Center or are they just adding a second location?

A. “We are currently in discussions with several national tenants that will be new to the Wilmington market. The Phase III buildings will be constructed as we get signed tenants for each,” said Sue Rice, director of operations for Mayfaire Town Center.

When Mayfaire finalizes negotiations, Rice said construction timelines will become more specific.

As for PetSmart, the Mayfaire location “will be a second location for the per supply retailer. The store on New Centre Drive will remain open,” Rice said.

A Petsmart spokesman said Thursday that plans for the Mayfaire location have not been firmed up.

“Unfortunately at this time, we do not have confirmed plans to share about this location,” the spokesman said.

PetSmart did confirm the opening of a new store at 5226 South College Drive, in the Myrtle Grove/Monkey Junction neighborhood. A grand opening event is scheduled for Sept. 6.

“It will be one of our smaller model stores, which includes a full service grooming salon,” the spokesman said.
