Who is responsible for maintaining parking lots in post offices?

Jason Gonzales

Q. Who is responsible for maintaining parking lots in post offices — the locality or the federal government? At the entrance to the Leland Post Office from Lyn Marie Drive, there has been a 4-foot pothole for at least eight months.

A. Maintenance of driveways and parking lots are the responsibility of the property owner, according to Steven Spruill, Leland public works director.

So, Spruill said, the post office is responsible for the pothole.
