Q. How do students from Riegelwood and Delco (Columbus County) get to attend school at Leland Middle School and North Brunswick High School in Brunswick County? This does not seem fair since they do not pay taxes in Brunswick County.
A. Parents can request that their students attend school in a different county from where they live for several reasons, such as parents working in a different county school system. Parents must provide transportation for their students if they’re going to school out of county.
In Brunswick County, the school board reviews and approves out-of-county transfer requests each year, said schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki. During the 2013-14 school year, there were 16 students attending Brunswick County Schools under the out-of-county transfer agreement.
