Q. Who is responsible for the removal of shoes hanging from power lines throughout town.? Why haven’t they been removed?
A. If the utility line belongs to Duke Energy Progress, you can call them directly.
In the Wilmington area, Duke Energy Progress will remove shoes from power lines, said Justin Landon, a spokesman.
Although the shoes may not be aesthetically pleasing, removal is not considered an emergency, Landon said, adding that the shoes do not interfere with power.
If a customer calls, the request would be sent to a regional center that dispatches technicians, he said. A technician would eventually follow-up on the request, likely when in the area.
To reach Duke Energy Progress’ customer service staff, call 800-452-2777.
