Where can I find locally grown eggs?

Paul Stephen

With the growth of farmers’ markets in the area, fresh, locally sourced eggs have never been easier to find. But once the winter chill sets in and those markets take a seasonal break, it can be a little more tricky to make a homegrown omelet.

While eggs can be found online at sites like DownEastConnect.com, one of the best buys around can be found at Country Fresh Produce Market at 2069 Carolina Beach Road.

Towards the front register of the cozy vegetable market, look for a table topped with a basket of multihued orbs. Owner Tim Honeycutt gets the eggs from farmers in New Hanover and surrounding counties, and sells them for three dollars per dozen. He said the shop has recently added local duck eggs as well.

Is there a place to pick grapes in this area?

Is there anywhere in the Wilmington area to buy local honey?
