Q. Are there plans by the city to extend Saint Nicholas Road to Station Road near the Highway Patrol to help with the traffic situation at Blair-Noble schools? Traffic is bottlenecked during the afternoon with only one way out to Market Street.
A. No, but there are plans for a new street in the area.
The adopted Cape Fear Commutes 2035 Transportation Plan and the Market Street Corridor Plan both include a street connecting Cardinal Drive north to Station Road, said Mike Kozlosky, executive director of the Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The collector street would “help alleviate traffic congestion on Market Street in this area,” Kozlosky said. The project is unfunded.
