Q. Is there an agency locally that will help a homeowner determine if the air and/or water in their home is mold free? Thank you.

A. A Google search reveals a host of local companies that do mold testing and removal. Some options include AdvantaClean of Coastal Carolina and Advanced Air Solutions. Both are in Wilmington.

I need to get a hold of this agency. I have been suspicious about my house since I moved in. I’m worried that if there is something there and I don’t do anything about it I’ll have problems in the future.

Local fire departments will usually check your house for mold for free. They will do a simple air test to see if the mold is in the air. If you want a more detailed investigation, there are basic house inspectors or mold inspection specialists.
