The mega-retailer has “no immediate plans” to introduce self-checkout lanes at the store located at 5226 Sigmon Road, company spokeswoman Dianna Gee said.
Self-checkout service is available at Wal-Mart’s other location at 5135 Carolina Beach Rd., at Monkey Junction.
The decision to offer self-checkout lanes at a particular location is based on several factors, Gee said, including space availability and customer feedback.
Walmart currently offers the service in 2,800 of its more than 4,000 U.S. stores, Gee said.
That’s not to say self-checkout service has been entirely ruled for the future at the Sigmon Road store.
“There are no immediate plans, but stay tuned,” Gee said.
