During the winter months, the Tregembo Zoo is closed for the season. Some of the animals housed at the zoo are from hotter regions and cannot handle cold weather. So during the colder months, the animals are housed in heated buildings.
Sherry Tregembo, current co-owner of the zoo, explained that the monkeys, parrots and small mammals are housed in heated buildings. The giraffe has its own heated barn.
The park closes at the end of October and reopens at the end of March.
