What is the proper procedure for a driver to handle roadkill?

According to the Department of Transportation, the best way to handle roadkill is to contact a local DOT county maintenance officer for removal. That can be done via a phone call, with New Hanover County, (910) 341-0500, and Brunswick County, (910) 754-6527.
