In March, the Azalea Triathlon (300-yard swim, 10-mile bike, 3.1-mile run) is run and has about 800 participants.

Marathons

The Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon (and half marathon) runs the weekend of St. Patrick’s Day in March and has more than 2,000 runners.

In November, the Battleship Half Marathon will celebrate its 15th year of existence with its largest field of runners, 2,250.
