A. The easy answer to this question is none, says Harry Humphries, chief of the Carolina Beach Police Department.
Since the department doesn’t have any funding from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, it cannot pay for checkpoints at Snow’s Cut Bridge.
That’s subject to change in the coming months, though, Humpries wrote in an email.
“We had not participated in the (Governor’s Highway Safety Program) for a while and hope in the near future to apply for grant funding,” Humphries wrote. “We have to build points towards grants first.”
