A. The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilmington Police Department said they regularly monitor such postings.
“The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is constantly working to battle prostitution,” said New Hanover Sheriff’s Sgt. Jerry Brewer. “ With prostitution migrating from the streets to social media and technology, the Sheriff’s Office has had to find new and innovative ways to combat the increase in prostitution.”
Brewer said the Sheriff’s Office has made prostitution arrests based on investigations that began from a Craigslist ad.
Linda Rawley said the WPD also keeps track of Craigslist postings.
“We do monitor these sites and follow-up as time and manpower allows,” she said.
