Brian E. Edes, who also practices law in Wilmington, was charged with driving while impaired on Aug. 10, 2011, by a Boiling Spring Lakes police officer, according to records on file at the Brunswick County Courthouse.
The DWI charge was dismissed on May 17, 2012, in Brunswick County District Court, according to court records.
The reason the charge was dismissed is because the arresting officer, Capt. Curtis Ledbetter, was not available in court, records state.
Ledbetter was dismissed from the police force on Feb. 7, 2012, according to information provided by the city of Boiling Spring Lakes.
