Q. The entrance and exit to the development known as The Willows located behind CVS off Northgate Drive in Leland was changed about two years ago. Why? Also, why wasn’t anyone held responsible for the cost of the useless sidewalk.
A. The road was a private road, and not necessarily regulated by the town at the time the changes took place, according to David Hollis, town manager.
“The sidewalk does not meet the standard now and is on a portion of the road to be closed and eventually removed,” he said.
Despite that, the town is working on modifying this road to the new code enforcement standard for its streets.
“We are also looking at creating an intersection with Village Road that will allow for left turns from Northgate onto Village Road and across Village Road onto Baldwin Drive,” Hollis said.
