Is there no law on cleaning up after your horse on the north end of Carolina Beach?

Jason Gonzales

Carolina Beach does have an ordinance for cleaning the feces of horses ridden at Freeman Park.

Horses can be on that section of the beach only between Oct. 1 and March 31.

The ordinance says any feces dropped by the horse on the beach or streets shall be removed by the rider and disposed of away from the beach in an environmentally safe and appropriate manner.

A $50 fine will be assessed per violation, the ordinance reads.

Which local beaches allow horseback riding on the beach?

What happened to the horses at North Kerr Avenue and U.S. 117 (Coastal Therapeutic Riding)?
