What’s under construction will make the free-standing Harris Teeter at 820 S. College Rd. part of a shopping center.
The center—undergoing a $7 million facelift—will be home to five tenants, including the Harris Teeter and Port City Java coffee shop located inside the grocery store.
Two new tenants have already been identified for the adjoining shopping center, said Will Dickson, owner of Legacy Properties-College Road Investments, LLC.
Electra Vapor, an electronic cigarette company, and Mani Q Spa, a nail salon and spa, will soon open.
Dickson said he is currently in negotiations with a third tenant.
According to Dickson, Harris Teeter is in the midst of a $6 million remodel to its exterior and interior and “I’m spending $1 million dollars on an addition that will adjoin Harris Teeter.”
Dickson said it will be a major improvement to the 1970s-era building. “At the end of the day you’ll be looking at a brand new center,” he said.
