Q. What happened to the Zaxby’s on 17th Street Extension. They did good business for what I could see, since I live over that way and was a frequent customer.

Wilmington finds itself with one less location to score Chicken Fingerz with the closing of Zaxby’s at 4409 S. College Rd. last week. A second location at 6811 Gordon Rd. remains open for business.
Zaxby’s are franchisee owned, and Debbie Andrews, the brand’s Risk Management Director, responded via email on behalf of the company.
“We understand that for business reasons, the franchisees at the Zaxby’s location at 4409 17th Street Ext., Wilmington [Map this], NC made the decision to close the restaurant. Zaxby’s is now in the course of evaluating the store closures but has not yet determined whether the closures will be permanent,” Andrews wrote Monday. “We thank the community for its support of Zaxby’s. We apologize for the inconvenience, encourage our guests to visit the other Wilmington location, and will provide updates on this location as they become available.”
