Q. The recycling center at Lowes Foods on North College Road used to have plastic recycling bins and they are gone now. Any idea if they will be back or where else we can drop of plastics for recycling? We live outside the city limits so we drop off our own recyclables.

A. New Hanover County spokesman Charles Smith said that according to our Recycling Coordinator Lynn Bestul, the container was most likely just temporarily removed from the site for emptying.

“This process normally takes one to two hours at most and it’s returned. We have had individuals who also recycle on a schedule and have missed the same container on a regular basis,” Smith said. “There has to be skill to this.”
