Q. Will Progress Energy dismantle the red and white stacks at the Sutton Coal plant once it is converted to natural gas?

A. Progress Energy media spokesperson Lisa Huffman said the long-term plan is to tear down the decommissioned coal plant, including the red and white smokestacks, sometime within the next two or three years. The coal plant is scheduled to be shut down at the end of 2013 after the new gas-fired plant goes into operation.
