Q. What’s all the digging about on Torchwood Road across from Garlington Heights?
A. The work is preparation for a subdivision called Berkley at West Bay Estates, said Sam Burgess, senior planner for New Hanover County.
“What they are actually doing is they are grooming or prepping the site for construction,” Burgess said.
The subdivision, which Burgess said will ultimately include “a blend” of 241 single homes, multi-family homes and town homes, was approved by the county in December 2011.
The developer, Savannah Land Company, has no set timetable to start building, Burgess said.
“At this time they are simply prepping or grooming the site for future construction,” he said.
